Infinix Note 4:- Is It Really Worth The Upgrade?

Posted by: || Categories: tech

The Infinix Note 4 and the Note 4 Pro are the latest addition to the brand’s Note series. Both devices were exclusively launched on the 3rd of July, 2017.

During the course of the launch event, it was disclosed that the infinix note 4 will be available in a total of three variants; The 2 GB version, 3 GB version and the infinix Note 4 Pro.

A preview of the device specs at the event, it was said that the device features a curved metallic back pack. And frankly, I’d have a flair for metallic built smartphone designs. They give that premium feel.

Fast forward to when the device became readily available, things didn’t seem like I expected. How? Let’s move on. But first, let’s look at some spec-sheets.

Infinix Note 4 Key Specifications

For the sake of this comparison, let’s use the standalone Infinix Note 4.
The key specifications of the Note 4 are;

4G Bands: LTE 1(2100) / 3(1800) / 7(2600) / 8(900) / 20(800) / 38(2600) / 40(2300)
OS: Android 7 Nougat + XOS 2.2
Display: 5.7 inch, 1080 x 1920 pixels (FHD), 2.5D IPS Display

Internal Storage: 16 GB / 32 GB

Front camera: 8 Megapixels
Battery: 4300 mAh with Fast Charge / XCharge 0.45% in 30 mins.
Launch Price: NGN 53,000 (2 GB RAM) / NGN 58,000 (3 GB RAM).

Infinix Note 3 Key Specs

Below are the Key specifications of the Note 3 x601;

4G bands: FDD-LTE (Pro only)
OS: Android 6 Marshmallow + XOS (Upgradable to Android Nougat)
Display: 6.0 inch, 1080 x 1920 (FHD) IPS LCD Display
Processor Type: Octa – Core 1.3 GHz
Processor Name: MediaTek 6753
RAM: 2 GB / 3 GB (Pro variant)
Internal Storage: 16 GB
Back Camera: 13 Megapixels auto focus camera with Dual LED Flash
Front Camera: 5 Megapixels camera with LED flash
Battery: 4500 mAh with XCharge.
Launch Price: NGN 54,700 (3 GB) / NGN 60,000 (Pro).

Now, having cleared off the key specifications of both devices, what’s new?

After one year (almost one year actually), What’s new from the specs-sheet would be a smaller inch sized display (same resolution), design, front facing camera, and battery. That’s all that seem new, at least, to me. Except for the Note 4 pro of course.

Both devices still have a handful of similar key features. Same processor, RAM, back camera amidst others. And for records, the Note 4 build isn’t metal. Although it looks like it, it isn’t. The metallic design only applies to the Note 4 Pro.

In terms of battery, infinix mobile says a 5 minute charge on the note 4 can deliver up to 250 mins talk time. This is an improvement compared to the note 3 which according to the brand, can deliver up to 200 mins talk time with just a 5 mins charge. So, point is, although the note 3 packs a bigger battery (4500 mAh), the note 4 charges faster.

What do you think? Is it Worth upgrading from a Note 3 to the Infinix Note 4?
